Online Medicare Informational Training
Learn how to use the Medicare website in the Central Library Computer Training Lab. Free workshops will be held on Wednesday, November 18th and Wednesday, December 2nd from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. These workshops are presented by Erie County Senior Services. Please register at 858-8900.

Buffalo and Erie County Public Library Welcomes Erie County Historian
The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library would like to welcome newly appointed Erie County Historian, Douglas Kohler. Mr. Kohler, appointed by Erie County Executive, Chris Collins will make his office in the Grosvenor Room of the Central Library. Office hours are Mondays 4:30 - 6:00 pm, 2nd and 4th Saturday's 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and by appointment 858-8368.

The Big Read in WNY
The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library is celebrating F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby during the months of October and November as part of its 2009 Big Read in WNY. Book discussions, lectures, film screenings, dramatic readings and dance parties are being held all across Western New York.

Branched Fall Programs
The Branched Out Fall Program schedule, offered by the Buffalo Museum of Science, is now available. "We've got Chemistry!" will be studied by the Young Scientists (ages 6-10), while Young Explorers (ages 3-5) will go "Animal Crazy!". Check out the program offerings at the Central, Crane, Dudley, East Clinton, East Delavan, Merriweather, Niagara and Riverside Libraries.

Some of the Central Library’s most popular public programs are now available in streaming audio and video format, as well as downloadable. Currently available programs include featured speaker Richard Brookheiser discussing the era of Alexander Hamilton and four participants in the Meet The Author Lunchtime Library Series presented in conjunction with WBFO-FM.
